Each year, the Library of Michigan selects up to twenty recently-released notable titles that are written about the Great Lakes, set in Michigan, or written by a Michigan resident. Each of these titles speaks to our state’s vibrant cultural, historical and literacy heritage.

The delightful selection of the 2026 Michigan Notable Books were recently announced including titles from various genres, both fiction and nonfiction, that appeal to a wide range of audiences. This year’s list explores wildlife on Isle Royale, the tragedy of the Edmund Fitzgerald, and reviews the challenges and opportunities faced by Michiganders across time.
